First the class begins with the PALS Science review followed by 1 and 2 rescuer infant and child CPR, resuscitation team concept, coping with death, pediatric assessment, practice of the cardiac, respiratory, and shock core cases, core case testing, and written exam.

Students will be given ample time to practice before final testing occurs. The instructors at CPR Tampa’s Tarpon Springs location in Florida are trained in providing a friendly and stress-free classroom. We believe a relaxed environment setting contributes to optimal learning.

Prior to taking the class, you will be required to take a self assessment test. Any problems you are having can then be addressed by the instructor on the day of class. Our instructors love teaching and love helping students be successful.

Same Day! All American Heart Association cards are now digital. You will receive your digital card by midnight on the day you take your class or skills check.

Yes. The American Heart Association requires that every student has access to a manual before, during and after class.

If you didn’t order a manual with us, make sure you bring one to class. If you arrive to class without the required manual, you will need to purchase one before class begins in order to participate in the class. Your instructor can assist you with this on the day of class.

For the PALS Renewal class, it is mandatory to complete the PALS Pretest (KJ-1485) prior to your class.

After you register, you will receive an email with the step-by-step instructions on how to access these courses.

Although class times vary depending on the number of students, the class duration of 8-9 hours is set by the American Heart Association guidelines.

Yes! It is possible to get all these certifications on the same day with our Blended Online Learning option for BLS, ACLS and PALS. This is where you complete the online portion at home and then visit our training site for the skills session check-off, i.e., the hands-on portion. You will receive all 3 cards on the day of the successful skills session completion.

If you are looking entirely for in-person classes, and have a current ACLS certification that needs to be renewed, then you can take our ACLS-BLS Combo course on the same day. If you don’t have a current ACLS that’s not expired more than 90 days, then you must take the 1st Time ACLS class. You can also add BLS on the same day.

For PALS, if you are current and not more than 90 days expired, you can take the PALS Renew. If more than 90 days expired, you must take the 1st Time PALS class.

Call us and we will be happy to help you register for these certifications in order to best fit your schedule.

The PALS Renewal Class (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is a refresher course designed for healthcare professionals who already hold a valid PALS certification and need to renew it before it expires. The class reviews and updates your skills in recognizing and managing pediatric emergencies, cardiac arrest, and respiratory distress, following the latest American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines.

According to the AHA, PALS certification is valid for two years. You must complete a PALS Renewal Class before your current card expires to maintain active certification and stay compliant with hospital and employer requirements.

During the renewal class, you’ll review and practice:

  • Pediatric assessment and recognition of life-threatening conditions
  • Effective team dynamics during resuscitation
  • Airway management, rescue breathing, and advanced interventions
  • CPR and AED use for infants and children
  • Rhythm recognition and pharmacology for pediatric patients
  • Case-based scenarios to reinforce real-world application

The PALS Renewal Class typically lasts approximately 6–8 hours, depending on class size and your level of experience. CPR Tampa’s instructors ensure a hands-on, stress-free learning environment where students can refresh their knowledge confidently.

Yes. Please bring:

  • A current (unexpired) PALS certification card
  • A photo ID
  • Your PALS Provider Manual (AHA 2020 edition)

If you don’t have the manual, you can purchase one through CPR Tampa before your class.

If your certification has expired, you’ll need to take the PALS Initial Class instead of the renewal course. The initial course covers the same skills but in greater depth for those who need a full re-certification.

Yes. CPR Tampa is an official American Heart Association Training Site, and all PALS certifications are AHA-approved and nationally recognized. You’ll receive your AHA PALS Provider eCard the same day upon successful completion of the course.
