Hypertension or high blood pressure is a serious condition that leads to so many diseases. Diseases such as heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, and other health problems. Blood pressure, or hypertension is a force of blood pushing against the wall of the arteries as the heart pumps blood. If the blood pressure rises and stays at a high level, it will cause problems in your body and damage organs. About 33 percent of adults in the United States have high blood pressure, (hypertension). The person who has high blood pressure doesn’t know it. The condition has no signs or symptoms. You can have it for years without knowing it. And you won’t know if you had or have a high blood pressure problem. But till this time, you will damage your inner organs and other parts of the body.
Knowing your blood pressure number is important. Let’s say you’re all fine and feel great. Still knowing your number can be the best way to keep you and your organ out of danger. If the numbers are reaching high, then you can work with your healthcare doctor to help prevent any more damage to your body and organs. Not knowing your numbers will give you a hard time later on in your life. Blood pressure is measured in systolic and diastolic pressure. Systolic means, blood pressure when the heart beats while pumping blood. Diastolic means when the heart is at rest and beating normally. Systolic can occur when you are running and checking your blood pressure, we all know that time our blood pressure is going to be high, which this case is normal. Let’s say you’re sitting in a relaxed position and you check your blood pressure and the number comes out to be rocket high. For this cause, you must go and see your doctor as soon as possible.
You have seen that blood pressure numbers are written as systolic numbers above and before diastolic numbers such as (120/80 mmHg) which stands for millimeters of mercy, units used to measure blood pressure. Blood pressure doesn’t stay the same all the time. It lowers as you sleep and rises when you wake up. Blood pressure also rises when you’re excited, nervous, or active. If your numbers stay above normal most of the time, you’re at risk for health problems. The risk grows as blood pressure numbers rise. “Prehypertension” means you may end up with HBP unless you take steps to prevent it.
If you’re being treated for HBP and have repeat readings in the normal range, your blood pressure is under control. However, you still have the condition. You should see your doctor and follow your treatment plan to keep your blood pressure under control.
Your systolic and diastolic numbers may not be in the same blood pressure category. In this case, the more severe category is the one you’re in. For example, if your systolic number is 160 and your diastolic number is 80, you have stage 2 HBP. If your systolic number is 120 and your diastolic number is 95, you have stage 1 HBP. If you have diabetes or chronic kidney disease, HBP is defined as 130/80 mmHg or higher. HBP numbers also differ for children and teens
To keep yourself and your organs in a healthy condition then you must go and see your healthcare doctor regularly even when you feel well. You never know what is going on inside of your body. But going to doctor and getting yourself check every 3 months is not a bad thing. High blood pressure is one of the most dangerous diseases to have.
